TAG Heuer and Ayrton Senna made it official in 1988, his first season with McLaren. He wore the S/EL chronograph through his peak years, including his 1993 wins at Monaco and Donington. That season, McLaren mechanic Ron Pellat joked that they should swap watches if Senna won the championship. Senna didn't win it, but at the end of the year he handed Pellat his S/EL anyway, in front of the whole team.
