The "Pig" was certainly not designed to be pretty even if it was a brilliant exercise in aerodynamics.
Initially set to make its debut in Martini livery, legend has it that after Count Rossi took a look at the unusually shaped racing car, he refused to let it race in the famous red and blue stripes.
Porsche then decided to go with the pink butcher-style livery to make sure it didn't go unnoticed at the race track.
Although it was a one-off experimental race car, the Porsche 917/20 "Pink Pig" (or Truffle Hunter) became a legend for its surprising participation at the 1971 Le Mans.

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was the top first-generation 911 and is considered by many Porschephiles to be the best of them all, which, when you talk about 911's is saying a lot. Unsurprisingly, the RennSport was initially built for racing homologation and was a fast car even by today's standards - 0/100 in 5.5s and a top speed of 240 km/h - much due to the extreme weight loss tricks that the Stuttgart boys came up with.
The extraordinary ducktail rear spoiler, the resurrection of the Carrera name from the '50s and its rally and track achievements all contributed to make this a very remarkable 911 among a long list of noteworthy 911's.
More recently, this once epitome of sports cars has become famous for the somewhat ridiculous prices it consistently reaches at car auctions, even being considered a few years ago as the best (legal) investment of the decade, with upwards of 700% appreciations.

In case you need an introduction, Ruf is a German car maker that made its name taking Porsche chassis and highly modified engines to create unique, exotic and pure driving machines built from the ground up.The Ruf CTR "Yellow Bird" was based on a 1987 911 Carrera 3.2 and is still the most iconic of Alois Ruf Jr.'s driver-focused creations, its legendary status no doubt helped by the fact that the Yellow Bird is the star of the most entertaining recorded Nordschleife lap of all time - made even more insane when you notice that it's being driven by a man/deity sporting a very period-correct and surprisingly carefree just-popping-out-to-the-grocery-store outfit without even a helmet or driving gloves. No surprise then, that this multi-cam video packed with smoking tires and opposite lock sideways action in a totally analog driving experience - no anti-lock braking or traction control systems here - is regarded as one of the very first car videos that became "viral" on the Internet's early years, long before "being viral" was considered to be anything remotely positive. But the CTR was not just a great driving machine or a very exclusive exotic car with only 29 units ever made. Seemingly from nowhere, the yellow underdog blew away the fastest factory supercars, like the 959 and F40, in the famous Road & Track Top Speed shootout, where it was clocked at 338.4km/h (211.5mph), shocking the industry with its record-breaking speed.It's so iconic that Ruf even made a 710hp 30th Aniversary edition that is the first of a new generation of cars for the brand that doesn't use any parts from Porsche, with hypnotizing black-yellow-lime tartan seats creating the perfect elegant transition to a sock design that takes us immediately to the interior of this amazing machine.

The 917 is often referred to as "the best race car ever". It's universally revered as one of the most successful racing cars of all time and its certainly the most famous ever built by Porsche - which, given the company's history, is already saying a lot. Debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1969, it became a dominant force on the tracks, most notably at Le Mans, back when the Circuit de la Sarthe was the Meca that car-builders, racing teams, and fans worshiped above all else - and it was the 917 that gave Stuttgart its first overall win at the famed 24-hour race.The 917 was developed by chief engineer Hans Mezger, but it was Ferdinand Piëch who pushed for a "powerful engine", and although pressed for time, Mezger did not disappoint. The car was fast. Faster than anything Porsche had ever tested on the race track. The 4.5 flat-12 engine - based on two flat-6 2.25 Porsche engines - was a monster with blistering acceleration and capable of top speeds well north of 300 km/h (186 mph). Unfortunately, the chassis and aerodynamics were not up to par and the car was still - to put it mildly - far from competitive, according to reports of drivers, keeping the 917 on the tarmac was a task similar to trying to steer a wild boar through an ice rink.After a rough season of trial and error, they eventually did get it right. The 917K's change to a short-tail bodywork elevated the handling from blunt object to laser-guided missile, and at the 1970s 24 Hours of Le Mans, Team Salzburg's red and white trim #23 car, driven through the pouring rain by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood, finally scored the first overall win. Porsche repeated the Le Mans victory in 1971, setting a total distance record only broken in 2010. Over the next years, many iterations of the 917 continued to race successfully and laid the groundwork for a series of endurance racers that would dominate the sport for decades. Here are four of its most notorious liveries.

The Pepita was yet another great moment of inspiration from the fine auto-making people of Stuttgart. Four flavors of Porsche vintage seat fabric in a beautiful bespoke box.
From the time when the default Porsche interior wasn't a monotonous shade of leather, back when Porsche used to throw in a plethora of unique patterns to keep curious onlookers awake while ogling through the side windows. If the notion of fabric as an upscale seat covering surprises you, read on. Car makers once paid little attention to their color and fabric departments, but Porsche - besides being known for making a sports car or two - has a history of creating unique and bold upholstery patterns that has always worked as an added lure for their above-average-fashion-conscious clientele. So is the story with the Pepita, one of the most famous and recognizable seats. A relative to the 1800s Scottish houndstooth - although definitely not the same - legend as it that the name Pepita has its origins in a homonymous Spanish dancer that performed in Stuttgart in the 1850s and was known across Germany.Introduced in 1963, alongside the birth of Recaro - a descendent of Reutter, a Stuttgart car seat supplier - the Pepita was first used in late 356C's and then followed by the 901/911, 912 and 914 models up until 1973.It has since reappeared in the 50th Anniversary 911 Carrera in 2013, and through Porsche's “Heritage Design Packages” the vintage textile is now making a comeback as a premium option in the sportiest models Stuttgart has to offer.80% Combed Cotton, 17% Polyamide, 3% Elastane.We use seamless knitting to create a sock with no stitches.

The 911 Turbo was put into production in 1975 with the original purpose of gaining homologation for the 1976 racing season. Despite that, the Turbo quickly became popular among petrol heads. Ernst Fuhrmann and Hans Mezger adapted the turbo technology to the 3.0-liter flat-six from the Carrera RS 3.0 - creating what Porsche internally dubbed as the 930 - using a single KKK turbocharger.Total output from the first engine was 256hp at 5,500 rpm. To ensure that the platform could make the most of the higher power, a revised suspension, larger brakes, a sturdier 4-speed gearbox, wider rear track with flared wheel arches and the mythical "whale tail," all became part of the package.The 930 proved very fast but also a handful to drive, so the terms "snap oversteer" and "widow maker" quickly became common when describing it and are forever connected to the original Turbo.But one of the most iconic features of the 930 package is the exclusive Tartan seats that became the inspiration for this 930 Special Edition pack. Shottenkaro is the correct Porsche terminology for the Red/Blue, which is authentic McLaughlin Clan tartan. The Blue/Green is the Black Watch tartan from the infamous 3rd Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, and the Brown/Beige Code 064 made for a very cool and bright interior. But we had a box that fitted four socks, so we needed one more tartan to complete the set. We picked one that, despite not being period correct, makes arguably the most beautiful sock designs in our collection, inspired in a fabric pattern used by Magnus Walker in one of his Porsches.
